Natal Beach closer, Galinhos Beach has a magical sunset

This beach is known for having a magical sunset.

Galinhos is located 180 kilometers to the north of the Potiguar capital, Natal, in the State of Rio Grande do Norte. There are beautiful beaches of clear waters, dunes and salt mines which rnake up the special scenario ofthis place.

The natural swimming pools are a complete chapter on their own. Thev are formed bythe reefs and natural stone barriers. The small natural transparent water fill the eves oftourist and refresh them from the heat. lt’s a great option either for bathing or for going snorkeling.

In Galinhos one can also do incredible boat trips, go ridding along the beach, enjoy a donkey-taxi ri de and even practice kite surf.

The donkey-taxi ride is dane with a rusticcart pull by a donkey.

The constant winds on the outside of the peninsula together with good waves compose an excellent scenario to practice kite surf. Another attraction are the natural salt mines. They are real natural salt dunes which can be appreciated on the peninsula. At the salt mines ar dunes cne can go for a great bicycle ride. Night life in Galinhos is always very lively at the sound ot a lot of forro (a typical slyle of music). The famous forro in Galinhasusuallytakes place during all Saturdavs.

HOW TO GET THERE:

Go out of Natal taking highway BR-406 until the vill age ofSao Geraldo, at the round about take highway RN-402. This road ends up at a river, where one can take a type offerry boat orforthose vehicles 4×4 there are special places and special time for going across during the dav, The crossing by boat is done at Pratagil beach and the crossing takes around 20 minutes to be done.

HISTORY:

The name of the vtllage of Galinhos came about because of little galo-fish which were found around the reefs in the peninsula. Galinhas became a municipality in March, 1963.
